Imagined Worlds, Drawn by Hand
About the Artist
I am a fantasy cartographer and illustrator specializing in hand-drawn maps that blend fine-art sensibilities with narrative worldbuilding. For more than four decades, I have explored the craft of visual storytelling—creating maps and illustrations that do more than describe a place; they evoke the tone, history, and hidden life of the worlds they depict.
My process is entirely handcrafted, built through layered textures, expressive linework, and a focus on atmosphere. Whether I’m illustrating a frontier settlement, a sprawling region, or a single moment within a story, my goal is always the same: to create artwork that feels alive—something that deepens the reader’s connection to the world and elevates the work it accompanies.
I live in northern Wisconsin, where the forests, rivers, and quiet landscapes continue to shape my artistic voice. When I take on a project, I approach it with the same care and intention I bring to my own creative worlds. I understand how much a setting can mean to an author, and I treat every piece as a collaboration in storytelling.
If my style resonates with the vision of your book or world, I welcome the opportunity to create artwork that brings that vision to life.
